What's Happening in Week 12?

Congratulations - you've reached the end of the first trimester! Your baby is now about the size of a lime. All major organs and systems are formed; now they just need to grow and mature.

The baby's face looks distinctly human now. They're practicing swallowing and their kidneys are producing urine. This is typically when the Nuchal Translucency scan is performed.

Tips for Week 12

  • The risk of miscarriage drops significantly after week 12
  • Many parents choose to announce their pregnancy now
