Watch our video guide to Week 4 of your pregnancy journey:
What's Happening in Week 4?
This week is crucial - implantation occurs! The blastocyst burrows into the uterine lining, establishing a connection that will nourish your baby throughout pregnancy. The placenta and amniotic sac begin to form.
You might experience light spotting called implantation bleeding, which is completely normal. Your body is also starting to produce hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), the hormone detected by pregnancy tests.
Tips for Week 4
- You might be able to get a positive pregnancy test by the end of this week
- Watch for early pregnancy symptoms like tender breasts or fatigue
- Continue taking folic acid
- Schedule an appointment with your GP or midwife
